Timeshifter raises seed funding, receives prestigious award, and is selected for Silicon Valley innovation program
New York (March 15, 2019) — Timeshifter® - The Jet Lag App® - today announced it will finalize $1.45 million in seed financing, and that it was selected to join the latest group of travel startups by celebrated Silicon Valley startup accelerator, investor, and corporate innovation platform Plug and Play.
Timeshifter, which also just received National Sleep Foundation’s 2019 SleepTech® Award for ‘Best App’ last week, is developed with Harvard Medical School Associate Professor, Steven Lockley, Ph.D., based on the latest research in sleep and circadian neuroscience. Dr. Lockley is a world-renowned expert in circadian rhythms, sleep, and jet lag. He has spent 25 years studying sleep, and works with clients such as NASA Astronauts and Formula 1 drivers on circadian management for optimal performance and health.
With Timeshifter, travelers can create their own easy-to-follow, personalized jet lag plans based on their sleep pattern, chronotype, itinerary, and optional preferences such as pre-travel adjustment or the use of melatonin for even faster adaptation. Timeshifter has already been recognized by leading media and hailed by its users, who have given it an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.
Timeshifter has joined the Batch 7 / Spring 2019 of Plug and Play’s Travel & Hospitality program. Plug and Play is an innovation platform in Silicon Valley that brings together the best startups, investors, and the world’s largest corporations. The Plug and Play team discovered Timeshifter personally, on a recent trip around the world, on which some used Timeshifter to successfully beat jet lag, while others did not and struggled as a consequence. While Plug and Play saw great potential in Timeshifter, it was up to their corporate partners to invite Timeshifter into the travel cohort. Plug and Play Travel’s partners include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, CWT, and Star Alliance.
Timeshifter’s investors include retired NASA Astronaut Michael López-Alegría and Air Canada Chairman Vagn Sørensen.
