New features for frequent travelers and improved user experience
NEW YORK, NY (OCTOBER 16, 2019) — Timeshifter® – the most-downloaded and highest-rated jet lag app in the world – today announced the release of its version 2 for iOS and Android. The announcement was made at the annual Global Wellness Summit in Singapore where Mickey Beyer-Clausen, Co-founder and CEO of Timeshifter, explained the newest app features and how recent scientific discoveries around jet lag have created an opportunity for the travel and wellness industries.
Timeshifter is based on the latest research in sleep and circadian neuroscience, and allows travelers to create their own personalized jet lag plans based on their sleep pattern, chronotype, and itinerary. Timeshifter is being heralded as an essential travel companion for frequent travelers, and is being offered to travelers through an increasing number of partners.
New features introduced:
Multi-city trips: Going beyond one-way and round trips, you can now add complicated itineraries with multiple destinations.
Unlimited stopovers: We all prefer to fly nonstop but if you can’t, you can add as many stopovers as needed.
Unlimited trips: Tired of adding one trip at a time? Now, you can add all of your future trips into Timeshifter.
Flight editing: Did your flight change? No problem. Update the departure or arrival time, or replace the impacted flight.
Quick trip entry: No more cumbersome entering of all the flight details. Just enter the date and flight number.
Auto-merge of overlapping timeshifts: Arriving back home just to leave again right away? Timeshifter will automatically take any unfinished plans into consideration.
Improved user experience: New navigation menu, contextual guidance, and much more.
According to a study by Conde Nast Traveler, 93% of passengers traveling on long-haul flights said they struggled with jet lag. With 448 million passengers traveling on 1,923,000 long-haul flights last year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), that’s 416,640,000 jet lag events. This adds up to billions of dollars in reduced productivity, performance, safety, and enjoyment, and forces many to depart one or more days earlier to acclimatize to the destination time zone before they have to perform.
Winner of the National Sleep Foundation’s 2019 SleepTech® Award for ‘Best App’ and a Phocuswright 2019 Innovator, Timeshifter was developed with Harvard Medical School Associate Professor Steven Lockley, Ph.D., based on the latest research in sleep and circadian neuroscience. Dr. Lockley is a world-renowned expert in circadian rhythms, sleep, and jet lag, and works with clients such as NASA Astronauts and Formula 1 drivers. Timeshifter’s investors include retired NASA Astronaut Michael López-Alegría and Air Canada Chairman Vagn Sørensen.
