How to timeshift
Tips to help you prepare to timeshift for the first time.
The timing of light exposure and light avoidance is key
Light is the most important time cue for shifting your circadian clock, so try your best to follow the light exposure and light avoidance advice.
You can avoid light anywhere
If Timeshifter advises you to avoid light, but you’re outside or in a brightly lit space, wear dark sunglasses that fit snugly to minimize light coming in around the edges. Blue light blocking glasses alone won’t be enough — it’s the total amount of light exposure that matters. When instructed to avoid light, also limit light from screens like phones, tablets, and laptops by turning the brightness all the way down.
You can get exposed
to light anywhere
If Timeshifter tells you to see light when you’re in a dark place, just turn on any available lights and increase the brightness of any electronic device you're using to a maximum.
If you can’t sleep, just stay in the dark
If Timeshifter suggests you sleep or nap, and you can’t fall asleep or sleep as long as recommended, just put on your sleep mask or dark sunglasses to avoid light.
Follow the advice as much as possible
